ANSA STH QLD INTERCLUB CHALLENGE 2023
Hosted by the Sunshine Coast Sportfishing Club.
In conjunction with the ANSA QLD Executive, the SCSFC are hosting an ANSA QLD Interclub Challenge and we would like to invite ANSA members to participate in this social fishing event. Come along and meet members from other clubs and enjoy a social fishing weekend. This is a friendly, club-based fishing competition with a goal of promoting the spirit of ANSA.
Location: Carlo Point BIG 4 BREEZE Holiday Park, Rainbow Beach.
EVENT PROGRAM
FRIDAY 19th May
6.00pm – Meet and Greet at the H Area Camp Kitchen. SCSFC will cook a free sausage sizzle. BYO Drinks.
7.00pm Briefing: Competition Rules and Safety Briefing. If you are not attending the Friday night, we can send you the Competition Code via email, which should be displayed in the picture with the fish you submit.
SATURDAY 20th May
6.00am Start Fishing. There is no obligation to fish right through to cease fishing. Fish to your hearts content. You may fish multiple venues in the allotted fishing time.
Saturday Night – We will have a campfire and some fun and games. BYO marshmallows.
SUNDAY 21st May
12pm noon. Cease Fishing.
12.00 to 1.00pm – Hand in capture sheets to competition committee. We will be on the grassed area near the H Area Camp Kitchen. From 1pm we will have free hot dogs and Presentation. BYO Drinks. Even if you had no luck or couldn’t fish come along anyway. Family and friends are welcome.
FISHING CHALLENGE
STH QLD INTERCLUB TROPHY – This is a Club award and will go to the club with the highest score. The score will be calculated by using the clubs 5 longest fish, combined with the number of total species they caught. This is an all-tackle award. Calculation for the trophy is: Total length of 5 nominated fish in mm of fish plus 100 points per species.
Example: Flathead 500mm, Bream 300mm, 2 Mackerel 700mm and 800mm and a Mullet 300mm = 2600 points. The clubs combined eligible species caught – 15 species x 100 points = 1500 Total score is 4100. Note – No Sharks, Eels or Rays.
INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
LONGEST FISH by a SENIOR ANGLER – Prize and certificate
LONGEST FISH by a JUNIOR ANGLER – Prize and certificate
LONGEST BREAM – Prize and certificate
LONGEST FLATHEAD – Prize and certificate
LONGEST REEF – Prize and certificate
LONGEST PELAGIC – Prize and certificate
One prize per fish for individual awards.
Each club must appoint a captain to take control of the capture sheet and complete it for submitting to the weigh master/recorder on the Sunday.
ANSA fishing rules apply. Fish are to be measured to the fork of the tail. A photo of the fish along with the Competition Code on a suitable measuring device is required and may be requested by the weigh master/recorder. Photos of captures can be sent to SCSFC Recorder Noel Platt on 0438 538 614.
ANSA QLD Eligible Species does not include any Sharks, Eels or Rays. You may use lures or bait.
The Fishing boundaries are the Sandy Straits, Tin Can Bay Inlet, surf beaches from Inskip Point to Teewah Beach and anywhere offshore from the Wide Bay Bar.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
There is NO COST to compete in the Interclub Challenge, but you will need to register. If you cannot register online, you can contact an event Organiser. Non-ANSA members will be required to register as temporary members, cost $15.

To receive a prize or trophy, you will need to be at the Presentation.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Accommodation – You will need to organise your own accommodation. There are many options available but often fill up quickly. Contact the Carlo Point BIG 4 BREEZE Holiday Park. Ph 54863200. Mention that you are with the ANSA STH QLD INTERCLUB CHALLENGE. The Caravan Park will help you find accommodation near our competition base close to the Powered Campsites Areas H and G. Non-powered camping is also adjacent to these sites.

Fishing – There are plenty of fishing options and two boat ramps in the region. Carlo Point ramp and Bullock Point ramp. Fishing options include Tin Can Bay Inlet, Sandy Straits, Rainbow and Teewah Beaches and offshore from the Wide Bay Bar. If you are not local, SCSFC members can provide some local knowledge.
There is plenty of boat parking adjacent to campsites and cabins.
Families will enjoy the caravan park. For the kids, there are pedal carts, a playground, a jumping pillow and a games room.
