Bundaberg Sportfish Festival 2024       

September 27th to 29th.

The 2024 Fishing Festival is to be hosted by the Bundaberg Sportfishing club. The ANSA QLD Fishing Festival is wonderful event where all ANSA members, along with their families and friends can gather together and enjoy a social long weekend catching up, a friendly fishing competition, formal dinner with the Annual Awards and the AGM.

Traditionally, members start to arrive earlier in the week, to enjoy the local area, sight-see and testing the waters. There are so many fishing options. You can fish Offshore (pelagics and reefies), the rivers (Barra and Jacks), freshwater (Barra, Bass and Saratoga) and land-based if you don’t have a boat. The Bundaberg members will kindly share enough information to get any visiting anglers a good start.

 

Itinerary:

Friday – Briefing will be at Bundaberg Tackle World, located on Quay Street from 5.30pm

Saturday – Fishing Competition. Lines in from 4 am.

Saturday night – Qld Sportfisher Awards Dinner will start from 5.00pm at Sandhills Sport Club located in Bargara.

Sunday- Fishing Competition. Lines out by 12 noon. Competition presentation & lunch from 12.30pm at the Burnett Heads Community Hall, 19 Zunker Street.

Sunday Afternoon- AGM will follow the presentation. A representative from each club, is requested to attend. Any other interested members are also encouraged to attend.

Saturdays Non-Fishers Day Out- This year Krystie & Tracey are organizing an EPIC “Non-Fishers Day Out”. There will be no age limit, and all are welcome to attend. One of the events will be a pre purchased ticket of $59. If you are interested in the fun packed full day, can you please let us know by emailing nodicart@bigpond.net.au by the 30th of August so we can organize bookings for this event.

 

The Venue:

The Fishing Festival will be held at Burnett Heads, a 15 minute drive from the heart of Bundaberg.

Saturday night dinner will take place at Sandhills Sports Club Located in Bargara a short 10/15 minute drive from Burnett Heads.

The AGM on Sunday will take place at the Burnett Heads Community Hall, 19 Zunker Street

There are accommodation options in and around Burnett Heads and the main boat ramp is only 2kms from the Lighthouse Hotel Motel.

The ramp has direct access to the mouth of the mighty Burnett River and from here, depending on weather, we have access to the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef. From the ramp you can head up stream and catch anything from Barra to Whiting.

This year you can fish as far south as the Burrum River, as far North as Baffle Creek, as far west as Lake Monduran and East out to the reef.
