SUMMARY:The 39th TOWNSVILLE SPORTFISHING CHALLENGE
DESCRIPTION:The 39th Townsville Sportfishing Challenge is to be held in the Townsville district waters on the weekend of 6\, 7 and 8 of September 2019. \nThe Townsville Sportfishing Challenge is an invitation only competition open to all members of Australian National Sportfishing Association (ANSA) affiliated clubs in Queensland. \nBoundaries\nThe boundaries shall be a line drawn East/West from the Northern tip of Great Palm and a line drawn East from the Northern tip of Cape Bowling Green\, with no Eastern or Western boundaries.  This extends to all estuaries that flow into the coast within these boundaries. \nTimings\nThe Townsville Sportfishing Challenge 2019 is operated over a three day period.  Fishing commences at 6:00p.m. Friday 6 September 2019 and ceases at 12 Noon on Sunday 8 September 2019. \nFish caught outside these timings are considered ineligible and it is the responsibility of the individual to monitor these timings. \nThe weigh-in be held at 4 Dali Court\, Heatley and will commence at 1.00pm on the Sunday or as close to this as practicable\, however all fish are to be in the weigh-in area no later than 12.45pm. \nIt is expected the presentation will commence at approximately 3.00 – 3.30pm on the Sunday afternoon or sooner if able however this will be entirely dependent on the number of competitors fishing. \nTides\nThe tides stated for the weekend of the Challenge are as follows: \n\n\n\nFriday 6 September 2019\nSaturday 7 September 2019\nSunday 8 September 2019\n\n\nHeight              Time     \nHeight              Time     \nHeight              Time \n\n\n2.18m                0352\n2.27m                 0524\n1.05m                  0048\n\n\n1.10m                1032\n0.96m                  1138\n2.39m                  0615\n\n\n2.89m                1728\n3.11m                  1818\n0.85m                  1227\n\n\n1.26                  2357\n\n3.25m                   1858\n\n\n\nRules\n1.The rules for the 2019 Challenge are in line with the rules applicable to Divisions 1 and 2 of ANSA QLD Handbook March 2012 (12th Edition).   All eligible species are included on the attached list. The divisions are: \nDivision 1 Sportfishing Division (1kg\, 2kg\, 3kg\, 4kg\, 6kg\, 8kg\, 10kg & 15kg) \nDivision 2 Lurefishing Division (1kg\, 2kg\, 3kg\, 4kg\, 6kg\, 8kg\, 10kg & 15kg) \n2. All fish are to be presented to the Weighmaster and assistants in preparation for weighing and Measuring and the Weighmasters decision is final if a fish is ineligible. Facilities are available for checking length and species prior to weighing of fish and it is the responsibility of each angler to ensure that fish are presented in accordance with the fishing rules. \n3.If a nominated angler is unable to attend the weigh-in due to work commitments or unforeseen circumstances then that angler can nominate another member from his or her team to weigh In his or her fish. If this is the case then the respective Club Captain is to inform the Weighmaster prior to the commencement of the weigh-in. \n4.All fish are to be correctly gutted and gilled prior to presentation to the Weighmaster as there are no facilities at the weigh-in site. On the weigh-in form fish are to be nominated if caught in estuary or bluewater and if captured by lurefishing . \n5.The maximum number of fish to be weighed-in per competitor is five with no more than two of any one species. \n6.To be eligible for team trophies\, two members of senior teams must present fish to the Weighmaster. Junior and Sub Juniors are exempt from this rule\, however a minimum of two must nominate in Junior and Sub Junior teams \nDisqualification\nAn angler will be disqualified if they present to the Weighmaster any fish that is not fresh\, gilled or gutted.   Anglers will also be disqualified if any fish presented are under the minimum length as per the Townsville Challenge Species List. \nFees and Charges\nThe fees for competing in the Townsville Sportfishing Challenge for 2018 are as follows: \nSenior Adult                  $10.00 \nJuniors                          $  5.00 (10 Years old and not reached the age of 16) \nSub Junior                    $  3.00 (hasn’t reached the age of 10 years old) \nNominations\nNominations are to be presented in team formation to the Committee Secretary by 8pm on the night of the 30 August 2019 using the attached nomination form\, therefore unfortunately late nominations or amendments will not be accepted. \nPayment of Fees\nNomination fees are to be paid by cheque prior to the closure of nominations on the 30 August 2019.   All cheques are to be made payable to; \n“Townsville Sportfishing Challenge” \nand addressed to the; \nTownsville Challenge Committee 2018 C/- P O Box 1623 \nAitkenvale Qld 4814 \n Catering and Refreshments\nThe Townsville Saltwater Sportsman’s Club will have food and refreshments for sale from approximately 12:30pm.  All proceeds will be going to the hosting club. \nRaffles\nThe Townsville Sportfishing Challenge Committee has endeavoured to minimise the cost of competing in the Challenge this year so it is hoped that the raffles will be well supported. Tickets will be on sale at the weigh-in. \n  \nAwards Classification \nWinchcombe Carson Shield  – (Champion Club)\n The highest score derived from the ten (10) highest point scoring fish weighed in per club\, with a  maximum of two (2) fish per any one species. \n  \nTownsville Inter – Club Sportfishing Challenge Shield – (Army Shield)            \nThe ten (10) highest points scoring anglers for each club (Townsville clubs only). \n  \nChampion Visiting Club            \nHighest aggregate score.
