Youth Conferences Throughout ANSA Qld
Youth Conferences Throughout A.N.S.A. Qld
At our State Wide Conference in Yeppoon in 2008 one of the questions raised was WHERE ARE THE YOUTH OF TODAY? With the help of two junior members, who did attend, we were able to ascertain that today’s youth are still very active in the fishing fraternity but their perceived concept of A.N.S.A. was it seemed to be stale and needed to be brought in to the 21st century.
It was decided at the conference a series of youth conferences should be set up and implemented throughout the state to allow a mingling of the OLD (crusties) and the NEW (newbies) and get some communication lines open between these two sectors to generate more interest in A.N.S.A. and its practices. The way these workshops would run would be to bring together the fishers, and in particular the youth of an area, regardless of whether they are members of A.N.S.A. or not, and to pass on knowledge within an organized format.
Does Your Club Have What It Takes To Run A Youth Conference?
The State Executive is looking to member clubs to take on the challenge of running a youth conference in your area. We have set a budget for these events and all clubs may apply for funding through their adopt-a-club representative or by contacting Darryl Lindeman (Promotions Officer A.N.S.A. Qld) on 0439 546 559 or Geoff Hodge (Funding Officer A.N.S.A. Qld) on 07 4159 9303
