On Saturday 27/09/2008 ANSA Qld, in conjunction with Keppel Bay Sportfishing Club , Capricorn Tag & Release SFC , Bundaberg Sportfishing Club & Gladstone Sportfishing Club, staged a youth fishing workshop at the 12 Mile, Marmor.
37 Participants including 20 youths enjoyed networking with ANSA & non ANSA members. 13 Barramundi were tagged & released while two Giant Herring were also caught & released. After the lunch time sausage sizzle the attending youth provided a clear directive for ANSA Qld to promote/organise/schedule more workshops.
Participants from Bundaberg , Lomead ,Gladstone , Calliope , Mt Larcom , Bracewell , Rockhampton & Yeppoon took part in this initial youth workshop. Everyone had to work hard to catch a Barra in the windy conditions but thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. Networking within the ANSA Q affiliated clubs was a bonus & there are already plans in the pipeline for joint club fishing trips next year.
Special thanks goes to Shimano & Pat’s Tackleworld for providing “in part” sponsorship of the squidgie plastics & jig heads which were part of the ANSA promotional packs handed out to all participating youth on the day. In fact all but one of the Barra tagged & released were caught on the squidgie plastic baits.
