Species Challenge to begin late September!

This year’s State Wide Conference has been held once again in sunny Yeppoon with a smaller, but no less vocal, group of Delegates and members attending.

The main news to come this year is the total revamp of the old Summer and Winter State Championships, which have now combined to form the one new event to be called the “ANSA Queensland Species Challenge”. The rules are simplified, and line class no longer comes into it, as well as there being no requirement for any fish to be gutted and gilled, or even brought to the Challenge Meeting. Instead we are going back to one of the major parts of our ANSA motto...”Integrity”.

The basic concept is that all members fish as individuals and/or as part of a team, and the individual/team who captures the most species will be declared the winner. Divisions remain the same, but there is no longer any Light or Standard Tackle classes. The Tagging section remains the same. Any ties will be broken by using the Fight Factors of fish caught multiplied by the number of species, and if a tie/s still exists multiple certificates and medallions will be presented.

More importantly, this first ANSA Qld Species Challenge takes place on the 24th and 25th of September as it was agreed by a majority of Delegates that the Challenge would take place once per year on the last weekend in September. All forms for the event will be sent out in the next day or so, as well as being available for download from the ANSA Qld website and Facebook page, and will be in a much simpler format than the old State Championships.

Just click on the link below and have a read of the new rules...all changes from the old State Championships are highlighted in pink
