NEW PARTNERSHIP TO FURTHER FISHERIES RESEARCH
The Brisbane Tinnie and Tackle Show produced more than a great boating and fishing showcase this year, with a new partnership formed between the Boating Industry Association of Queensland and Australian National Sportfishing Association.
Both groups worked together to tag the fish caught in the show’s catch and release competition to assist fisheries research.
Jeff Sorrel, an active member of ANSA and a member of the Moreton Bay Access Alliance, committed ANSA to the BIAQ bream tagging proposal.
At the close of the show, 140 bream had been scientifically tagged, recorded and transported to their release destination.
Event manager, Farrokh Golchin, said the BIAQ was appreciative of the efforts and enthusiasm of Mr Sorrel to further fisheries research and to have ANSA involved in all future BIAQ boat show catch and release competitions.
“At the Brisbane International Boat Show in August, recapture data will be displayed on the Fishing Expo stand and hopefully fisheries research will continue to benefit from the new BIAQ and ANSA partnership,” he said.
