T he Collinsville Sportfishing Club has once again held a successful annual interclub competition at their camp grounds on the banks of Terrible Creek and the Bowen River . The camping grounds and the amenities were in great condition and they were greatly appreciated, with improvements carried out by a small band of club members to provide the comforts of home for all.
The meals provided by the club were well received the roasts cooked in the camp ovens were a stand out feature of the weekend. I would like to thank all the members of the club and the members of other clubs who gave their time to provide the wonderful meals.
A total of 134 anglers from 7 clubs competed in this years competition. What was heartening to see was the number of competitors who returned to fish this competition as adults who once fished as sub juniors and juniors, Some of these competitors were returning with their own children. Although a lot of these competitors returned as visitors, the next challenge is to have these people return to the ANSA fold fulltime.
Special thanks must go to the Sibson family of Blue Valley Station and the Woodhouse Family of Mt Wickham Station who allow all of the competitors access to the river banks. Without this access there would not be competition. The Station owners also provide valuable assistance and time to our club with all manner of things in regards to our working bees and with the competition.
This year the Champion angler was taken out by Lyn Hoffmann of the Collinsville Club and the young ladies were also very successful by winning the Champion junior and Champion Sub junior angler awards. The junior Lure Casting award was won by a young lady from the Sibson Family.
